Barzani National Memorial

Museum

The museum’s design meticulously reflects the rocky terrain of the mountains and caves that have long shielded and protected Kurdish people. Kurds often refer to the mountains as their only friends and the museum is a homage to those real friends.

The journey takes visitors through the visual history via the photo gallery, exhibited artefact, and a storyline presented in chronological order.

The Cave Room

The cave room is modelled after one of the caves that Mustafa Barzani spent significant time in. Barzani and his fellow Peshmerga often used caves to hide from fighter jets during raids. Caves remain a significant part of rural life in mountainous regions of Kurdistan.
